Rise Industries

There is a sad and frustrating debate going on in Providence and Olneyville right now about gentrification, specifically, about some lofts in a former mill called Rising Sun. The rhetoric is very angry, from both sides, and therefore, amazingly one-dimensional and sad. I dont know how my city will heal after this debate, but I hope it does. These are large issues, for sure, but I dont think blogs and bulletin boards are a very productive way to have a dialogue. Or maybe it is… maybe people are more themselves, or more at liberty to be blunt and mean and angry. Either way, I hope the anger will subside and some real conversations will start after all this.
