At Sci-Arc this weekend: Beyond Sprawl: New Strategies, Prototypes and Scenarios for Multi-unit Housing

A “One-day conference supported by the NEA Design Arts Program, on issues of land use, density, and building technology, including presentations by Michael Bell, Mark Mack, Marcelo Spina, Architect, Faculty member, SCI-Arc; and Albert Pope of new architectural prototypes for medium- and high-density multi-unit urban housing. Keynote speaker Thom Mayne; other participants Jane Blumenfeld, Angie Brooks-Scarpa, Dana Cuff, Joan Ling, Sally Richman, Roger Sherman, Robert Somol.”

Happening all day Saturday, see Sci-Arc web page for more details.

Also Sci-Arc related and coming up is a show of student work at the Pacifc Design Center (you know, the big blue whale..) in West Hollywood. The show is called Cacophony (i think) and opens tuesday (i think). During the week there will be discussion forums with Sci-Arc faculty and others.. I will post a link to more info when i find one. Of course, Rise will have work up in the show.

Coming up later this evening, a group show featuring Rise affiliate Amy Robinson opens at Gallery 825 at 825 La Cienega Blvd. 7:00pm most likely. Check it out!
