Japan’s princess Kiko is pregnant!

OK. So I am exposing my ignorance here, but I did not know Japan had a princess – or any royal family for that matter. I mean, I know there was in the past, but I did not know there still is royalty in Japan. But – what I find really strange, is the photo of her on the CNN page – note the words BIG MAN just below her image?? Who’s the big man, I want to know. (I guess its part of the video monitor, but still.. strange photo choice there guys)

OK. Thats all for now thanks.

OK, So I cannot stand Bollywood films – loathe them mostly.. but this I might just have to see because it sounds so perverse – Fight Club, ala Bollywood. Via Coudal.

I highly recommend you check it out – his live loop guitar driven show is kind of unbelievable to behold. Also playing is Niño Astronauta, and some other folks too.

Oh crap! I didn’t realize that Nam June Paik died this past weekend. The man was a genius, and a video art pioneer – if you can find some of his work at a local library, indy video store, or art school go and check it out. He also had a great sense of humor, as his work shows. “Global Groove” is a great example..

His official site is here.

Ok. I have a bunch of little things I need to post/do for the Rise site here: photos from a show we went to this weekend at South La Brea Gallery, put up hot-off-the-press bio info for our officially joined member Tim Devin (though go check out his work on his site in the meantime, its linked above) and post some of the work I have been doing. Architecture and art have been too busy lately to let me get to all the web stuff – but I see a light at the end of the tunnel. SO, gimme like a week or two and I will hopefull put a whole batch of new stuff up here.

At a kick-off event for the Los Angeles Artist’s Gun Club (yes, that is correct) I fired this thing here with much success. First two shots, dead center on the target. So I guess artists can be dangerous after all. Though it was not exactly all fun and games.. in fact, it kinda scared the shit out of me. Handling one of these thing really makes you understand how dangerous they are – and how very easy they are to fire. Very scary, but exhilarating at the same time. Much, much louder than you might think too.

This shooting range outing, put together by Jeff Cain, is part of LACE’s Civic Matters exhibition and artist exchange. So there were a gang of Swedish artists there, shooting things as well. I will alert you when the photos are up, they are a must see.

I’m gonna give a link to the Los Angeles Gun Club here as well, they were very nice, very helpful, and stocked with all kinds of dirty harry revolvers if you want to try one (I stayed away from that for now, looks heavy).
