I’d like to welcome Solange to the Rise Industries/Art in Ruins blog. She is a friend of ours from LA, and will be posting news from around Europe, starting with Paris, as she travels.

Je souhaite que j’aie été là.

Can’t wait to watch the Dylan documentary, No Direction Home, on KCET tonight. Its probably superflous to mention that no matter how much I love New Order, Black Sabbath, Super Furry Animals, or Death Cab for Cutie, he is the best songwriter, songplayer, guitar-strummer there ever was. Not virtuoso best but down to earth, feel life through the songs best.
But then, most everyone knows that.

The Dis/Connect show opens tonight in Inglewood, 7:00pm – 10:00pm:

Los Angeles, CA – South La Brea Gallery is pleased to present “Dis/Connect,” an exhibition of video works curated by artist D. Jean Hester. This group show will run from September 16 – October 9, 2005 with an opening reception on Friday, September 16th from 7:00pm – 10:00pm. The exhibition will feature work from five video artist including Michele Jaquis, Wendy Mason, Julie Orser, Jeremy Quinn and Hester. “Dis/Connect” focuses on human interaction; the messy, incomprehensible, exhilarating, unpredictable, frustrating, and inspiring moments that happen between people. The exhibition stems from Hester’s fascination with how we create, sustain, and fail in our associations within society.

South La Brea Gallery is located at 208 S. La Brea in Inglewood, CA (90301).

For more information visit the gallery’s site
or visit the Dis/Connect page.

For Labor Day, we took a drive out to Zuma beach in Malibu to relax in the sand and fight the undertow – the exotic car count from our drive is as follows:

Ferrari – 7 (two were these)

Lamborghini – 2

Delorean – 1

Ford GT – 1

I have not been counting Bentleys, Maseratis, Alpha-Romeos, or Aston Martins. Sorry.

Old friend Darren McManus dropped me a line today to give us a heads up about his new T-Shirt design, available through Imperfect Articles.

“This is a guaranteed protective, good-vibe gathering talisman for your (or anybody
